Newsflash

While flea and tick season is almost over here in New England, it may not be over wherever you are. Also, simply because it is getting colder does not mean your pets are no longer at risk. Quite the opposite. Fleas, and ticks can often lay dormant for some time. If you live in areas that are prone to wild animals, lots of woods or shrubs, then make sure you protect your pets at least until December. Those tickls that are still hanging around might have been on another animal, and trust me they would love to come inside to a nice warm dog every night.

Does anyone know what the easiest dog treat is during the winter? In some areas we have these treats in abundance and others not so easily. It is all natural. Most dogs simply love them and they can be used as both a toy and a treat,

Give up?

Snow. Or more precisely snowballs. If you live in an area where the snow falls, Sorry to Florida, California and all the other southern snow-less states.

But if you have dogs that love tennis balls or ice cubes, then winter means a nearly limitless supply of dog fun. So the next time your outside consider using the fresh snowfall for something your pet will love. Make and throw a few snowballs. Some dogs will take a while to look for them, as they match the snow, some will eat them, and others will actually bring the ball back. Simple, effective, and easy to replace. No doggy drool to deal with, no worrying about losing the ball, and your pet will likely love it.

When their done playing, give them a small peice to eat. They get water, a treat, and play all in one.
